Samsung Mobile is a South Korean company with headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. It was founded as Samsung Electro-Mechanics on 28 August 1938 by Lee Byung-chul at a small hamlet called Daewoo (which means "great harmony") located in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. In 1947, the company's first products were radios and television sets.

The business gradually expanded over the next two decades to encompass consumer electronics, home appliances and computer systems before setting its sights on becoming a global leader in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing around 1980. Samsung first began producing televisions in 1967.
